·      Polka Dots (again!)

·      Embroidered knits – embroider your old knits to give them a new lease of life.

·      Off the shoulder sweaters with a wide turtle neck

·      Good old v-neck sweaters are back

Knitting Colour Trends for 2024

Colour wise there are three main shades that should be on your yarn list. Cherry or crimson red will be seen everywhere this year, the deeper the saturation the better! Peach is also the Pantone colour of the year. Not always the most flattering of shades for everyone but there are several variations that can suit people. Warmer tones of peach are better for more mature skins for example. Finally lavender or lilac will be big this spring/summer too.

Knitting Patterns for 2024 - Joining the dots: Polka Dots

Runways were full of polka dots for 2024. Have they ever gone away really? They can be relied upon for elegance and impact, as well as fun. This year they need to be big and bold, or incredibly tiny and muted. It is a design everyone can wear as it is ageless and classic.

Let’s look at Knitwear Trends for 2024

In the UK, the weather is so appalling that frankly a nice cardigan never goes out of fashion. They can be knitted or crocheted but they will be everywhere.

What are the cardigan style options

Thin, delicate, and lacy cardigans –

Especially nice in the spring summer when you want a pretty layer to put over a dress or tee shirt for a bit of warmth (well here in the UK anyway!) And they also look good with a nice pair of trousers. Think bright colours or pastel hues for 2024.

The ‘Librarian’ Cardi

This style of cardigan could be seen as boring but not this year! A plain cardigan with buttons but add vibrant colour and you will be on trend this year. Neutrals are always good as a staple and can look classic and chic with a pair of trousers, jeans, or a skirt too.

The Long Cardigan

Layering is a great way to wear your knits and what could be a better over the top than a gorgeous long cardigan. Preferably as long as a dress! Choose cables, patterns or a simple stocking stitch in muted tones or colour they can be a statement piece all on their own whilst adding an extra layer of warmth.

Oversized Cardigan

Embracing a cosy oversized cardi is what we do when we are craving comfort and want a metaphorical warm hug from our knits.

If its got some ‘fluff’ even better! This will add depth and warmth to your knit and make it even more of a go to when the weather is cool and you need something to wrap up in.

Zipped Cardi

These cardis are like a bomber jacket with a zip all the way from the bottom to the top. Perfect for winter or summer when the days are collar they are great to throw over jeans as they are midway between smart casual and comfortable.

This year turtleneck sweater are as popular as ever but they will be slim fitting and fine in bright pastel shades. Often knitted in luxury yarns these are another wardrobe staple you could invest time in knitting which would stand the test of time  as they are always in season.

V-Neck Sweater

A V-neck sweater is so easy to incorporate into everyone’s wardrobe. It goes with anything!

This year slouchy V-necks will be the theme with a more relaxed fit. Yay!
